Solstice 2026 takes place on Rukatunturi, a 500-meter-high fell in Kuusamo, northern Finland. Easily accessible by bus, car, train, or plane, there are plenty of travel options whether you're coming from within Finland or abroad. Kuusamo Airport is just 25 minutes from the site, with flights from Helsinki and seasonal international connections. Long-distance buses serve the area, and train to Oulu link with onward buses to Ruka.

Driving offers flexibility, with lots of parking areas around the fell. For a smooth journey, book tickets early, pack for variable weather, and consider sustainable travel choices like carpooling or offsetting emissions.

  • Domestic travel

    • Travelling from southern Finland? Take the Solstice charter bus from Helsinki to Ruka, departing on Wednesday/Thursday and returning on Sunday. More info on the Helsinki - Ruka - Helsinki bus section below.

    • Another option is to take a train to Oulu, and continue with our charter bus from Oulu to Ruka.

    • Alternatively, take a Matkahuolto operated regional bus from Oulu to Ruka.

    • Train and regional bus schedules and tickets available on VR, and Matkahuolto.

  • International travel

    • Helsinki is accessible from most major cities around the world, and the simplest option to reach Ruka is by Solstice charter bus from Helsinki on Wed/Thu and returning on Sunday.

    • Another option is to take a train/flight to Oulu and transfer by the Oulu-Ruka-Oulu Solstice charter bus on Wed 17th or Thu 18th June.

    • Alternatively, take a Matkahuolto operated regional bus from Oulu to Ruka.

    • Flying to Kuusamo and taking the airport shuttle or taxi to Ruka is also an option.

    • Train and regional bus schedules and tickets available on VR, and Matkahuolto.

  • Helsinki - Ruka - Helsinki Bus

    • Festival-goers from Southern Finland can take the Solstice charter bus from Helsinki to Ruka, departing early on Wed/Thu and returning on Sunday.

    • All Solstice charter buses are equipped with basic amenities for your comfort and convenience, like Wi-Fi and EU power sockets or USB-A/C sockets.

  • Oulu - Ruka - Oulu Bus

    • For travellers coming from further up we have a Solstice charter bus departing on Wed eve / Thu daytime and returning on Sun early morning / later in the morning.

    • All Solstice charter buses are equipped with basic amenities for your comfort and convenience.

    • Catch a connecting flight from Helsinki to Oulu when departing from major European cities, and hop onto the Oulu-Ruka bus. After departing from the airport, the bus will make a stop at Oulu Bus Station, conveniently located next to the train station, to pick up passengers arriving by train from southern Finland.
